The Web Designer’s Guide to Boosting Concentration
A lot of people might think that being a web designer is an easy job, but it really isn’t. Every job has its upsides and downsides. As a designer, you are expected to do mental work by being creative during each of your work days no matter if you are working alone or with some design agency. Additionally, web designers usually have a very tight schedule and they switch different tasks during the day, and this is not always easy.
This is why it is very important for designers toe able to focus on what is important so that they can get the job done. You can be talented and technically skilled as much as you want, but if you cannot concentrate on your tasks your work will suffer. When you make a lot of mistakes, you will lose time correcting them and this can cause a lot of delays and even brake deadlines.
Here is a quick guide that can help you create a steady mind flow that will allow you to stay concentrated as a web designer.
It’s Important to Sleep Well
The first thing you must shape up is how you sleep. If you don’t get enough sleep, or quality sleep there is no coffee or energy drink that can help you stay concentrated. This means that you will first have to establish regular sleep patterns where you go to bed at a similar time and wake up at the same time each day.
A lot of people sleep badly and wake up feeling broken because their mattresses are simply old and used up. Look for the best black friday mattress deals and make sure to find a quality mattress that won’t hurt your body while you sleep. Additionally, make sure that you don’t oversleep or get deprived of sleep. Create a habit of sleeping 6-8 hours each night and you will wake up fresh and rested.
Take Breaks Regularly
There are a lot of studies that show how our brain has the capacity to keep us focused and concentrated on one task for 90 to 120 minutes in continuity. However, after this time has passed our brain needs to rest and stop focusing on the same thing in order to refresh and restore a healthy cognitive function.
This is why it’s a good idea to take breaks every two hours and do something you enjoy, like watching a video on YouTube, playing a game, taking a coffee break or simply taking a walk.
Listen to Music While You Work
With the right music, you can create an awesome workflow where you will sometimes feel like you can’t stop working. Listening to background music improves focus and concentration, but only if you are listening to the right music and when you really listen to it. For me, the best music I like listening to when working is instrumental music where there are no lyrics that might distract my attention.
Remove All the Distractions That Break Your Focus
First of all, when working, focus on one task at a time. Organize yourself and tackle tasks one by one. Don’t try to multitask, as this clearly breaks concentration and the thought pattern and will ultimately lead to you doing a worse job.
The second thing you should do is recognize the things that distract you and work on removing them completely. For example, if your coworkers ask you irrelevant questions not only will you lose time, but you will also preoccupy your mind with unimportant things, leaving your mind too exhausted for the actual job in front of you.
These are the things that helped me improve my focus and work to my fullest capacity. Have you tried anything else that worked well for you? If so, feel free to share your thoughts and help others.
